Transition Assistance

Transition GPS is a redesigned transition assistance program that ensures service members and their families are substantially better prepared for civilian life. The program provides extensive tools, education and support needed for a successful transition from military service to the civilian community. Participants will depart the military very “career ready” and with strategies that augment the job search process in today’s market.

In the Transition GPS program, service members will assess what interests them the most in the workplace and learn how to increase their marketability, so they may obtain a job they want.

Services include:

  • Translating military skills and experience into civilian workforce terms
  • Financial planning
  • Certification and training resources
  • Employment workshop
  • Federal and civilian job search techniques
  • Resume writing
  • VA Benefits and e-Benefits

COVID-19 continues to spread and is an increasing force health protection (FHP) threat in our area:

The VA will discontinue VA benefit briefings and services on military installations for transitioning service members and their families through the interagency Transition Assistance Program (TAP) until further notice. However, VA will provide virtual briefings and individualized counseling for transitioning service members where possible. Service members who have not received these briefings, as required by TAP, may access the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) platform and register for “TGPS-US006: VA Benefits and Services.”

Veterans with specific questions can call 1-800-827-1000 or go www.ebenefits.va.gov for additional details. Veterans can continue to get information about benefitsfile a claim online or can call for claim-specific questions.

Please email or call Jalisa Barnett, VA Benefits Advisor Site, U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs  jbarnett@kck-inc.com or (571) 345-8254 (WC)
