Child and Youth Programs (CYP) consist of four basic types of care: Child Development Centers (CDCs), Child Development Homes (CDHs), School-age Care (SAC), and Youth and Teen Programs. CYP staff have received extensive training for childcare and are required to maintain continuing education to ensure the most up to date childcare can be provided. All child care programs are open to Active Duty Service members, DoD civilians, and contractors. Fees are based on total family income and vary for full-time care.
APPLY FOR CHILDCARE
Military families seeking child care within Naval District Washington can make a request online at MilitaryChildCare.com. MilitaryChildCare.com is a DoD, centralized website which allows families to search for and request care, manage their requests, and update their profile online, making it easier to find child care. Simply create an account online at MilitaryChildCare.com. Then search the system for the child care options that best fit your needs and submit your request(s). The program will contact you when space becomes available.

HOURLY CARE
Make payments, hourly care reservations and so much more online through CYP Online Services! Hourly care is available on a first-come, first-served basis for children 6 weeks to 12 years old. The cost is $4 per hour. New patrons must complete a registration packet before using the online system. Download a registration packet here or pick one up at your local center.
GIVE PARENTS A BREAK
Military families are subject to unique stressors associated with military life, such as deployments, remote tours of duty, extended working hours, recent transfer to the area, illness in the family, caring for a child with special needs or other circumstances/hardships. The Give Parents a Break (GPAB) program is designed to give family members a short break from parenting in order to help them deal with these types of stressful situations. This program is free for respite care referrals and $4 per hour for all other patrons.
Eligible patrons include all children 6 weeks to 5 years of age who are not yet in kindergarten. Give Parents a Break is offered typically two times each month (days depending on the installation) and reservations can be found on installation's websites and social media pages.
